From June 26 to July 2 the first session of the Regional Youth Forum "Tomsk Collider" was held in Sibiryak ("Siberian") camp in Kireevsk, on the bank of the river Ob. This year is remarkable as the Forum's five-year anniversary. The Forum encompassed 9 sections, one of which was "Leadership in Engineering and Technology", attended by 9 Elite Engineering Education students: Elina Kibler, Olga Yaroslavtseva, Maksim Volshin, Maksim Sukharev, Ekaterina Mityukhina, Andrey Fenzel, Anna Kapul, Viktoriya Sokolova, and Natalya Mukonina. Altogether, over 500 people took part in this year's event.
The Forum's stated mission is to train Tomsk Region's future elite, which meets the goals and objectives of EEE TPU more than ever.
Tomsk Collider included an extensive training program aimed at improving the projects brought by its participants. Our team presented the project called "The Summer School of Leadership". It is a traditional event held for EEE's most active students in order to develop their skills of leadership and organization.
After attending the Forum's courses, such as "The Theory of the Elites", "Axiology of Action", "Logic and Methodology", "Identity Design", "Critical Thinking", and "Argumentation Theory", held by Tomsk Region's leading coaches and experts, the project was reconsidered and reworked.
The main issues of the "Summer School" that the project team identified were inconsistency and the lack of development, as the same Summer School events are repeated year after year. The experts helped to advance both the idea and the content of the project.
The Forum's expert session was also attended by Evgenia N. Serebriakova, Head of the Department of Elite Engineering Education, who held a class in implementing and promoting engineering projects in manufacturing, talked to students, and offered valuable advice on project implementation.
Aside from the training program, the Forum also included an entertainment program, which offered its participants to get a closer feel of Russian culture together with the world famous art project named "Vasiliev Vecher", pass GTO ("Ready for Labor and Defense") athletic standards, take part in the "Bastion" action training game, play intellectual games together with Tomsk Intellectual Games Club, try their hands as artists and bakers, and a lot more.
After the Forum, our students have a lot more work to do, the results of which we will see in the last week of August during the "Summer School of Leadership" of the TPU EEE.
